Baynet Radio Interview
Meet the Candidate: Todd Morgan for St. Mary’s County Commissioner
ST. MARYS COUNTY – 7/16/2010
During his time with Baynet Radio and TheBAYNET.com, Republican candidate for St. Mary’s County Commissioner in the Fourth District, Todd Morgan explained why he feels the need to run for public office.
The life-long Republican feels it is time for the county government to become more fiscally conservative. “I am a business guy with 30 years experience running a multi-million dollar company and that kind of experience is what the government needs. St. Mary’s County is a multi-million dollar operation that needs sound business management,” said Morgan.
Navy Alliance President, Morgan, also a major defense contractor, stated that he is fully aware of the economic impact NAS Pax River has on the area. “This base here contributed over 3 percent of the entire GDP of Maryland and we are constantly working to bring more business opportunities inside the gate,” said Morgan. “At the same time, we need to be more forward thinking to those needs outside of the base gates and the creation of new businesses and industries.”
When asked about spending and taxes, Morgan stated, “I have long been an advocate of fiscal responsibility and conservatism. The basic premise is simple: you work, you save and you invest.”
He went on to state that, “throughout history, every successful modern day economy has succeeded when government allows the private sector, especially small businesses, to operate without significant restrictions, high taxes and other burdens.
“The same can be said of the individual. I believe tax dollars are your money, it’s yours, and there is an implied responsibility to act responsibly and resourcefully in its use. We can’t be constantly increasing taxes to justify an expanded Government,” emphasized Morgan, read the rest at thebaynet.com
